More tempo terms are added in Unit E3. The following are specifically identified in the curriculum but feel free to add your own.
Students should develop and ability to manage multiple changes to tempo.
- Ask students to clap along to a metronome at different tempos, so that they can get a feel for the speed of each tempo marking.
- Can students play their piece, or a phrase, to a metronome’s beat?
- Encourage students to clap a pulse in an appropriate tempo as part of the initial exploration of a new piece.
