Students should develop and ability to manage multiple changes to tempo.
Activities
- Ask students to clap along to a metronome at different tempos, so that they can get a feel for the speed of each tempo marking.
- Can students play their piece, or a phrase, to a metronome’s beat?
- Encourage students to clap a pulse in an appropriate tempo as part of the initial exploration of a new piece.
