For Unit E7 students should develop their co-ordination so that they become confident at playing pieces that encompass a range of more than one octave in both hands.
Activities
- Hands together scales and other technical exercises are a great way to develop co-ordination. Perhaps start the lesson with a warm up including scales or arpeggios etc. in the key(s) of the piece(s) the student is currently learning.
- Experience is vital when trying to build co-ordination, so encourage the student to expand their repertoire and learn many different pieces.
- Try something like Elissa Milne’s 40 piece challenge to give students a concrete goal to work towards.
