Students expand on their knowledge of compound time at this level, with pieces in:
- 9 quavers in a bar
- 12 quavers in a bar
- Refresh the memory of compound time by revisiting or learning new pieces in 3/8 or 6/8 metres.
- Clap a pulse in the new metre.
- Develop aural skills by clapping different compound metres and asking the student to identify which is which.
- Are you familiar with the piece, and already know where a student is likely to get stuck? Pick out the tricky elements of the music and explore them with the student away from the page before learning the piece.
