Unit G11 – Technical Exercises

For Unit G11, students should add the following scales to their repertoire:

2 octave scales hands together:

• E major
• B major
• B flat major
• E flat major
• B minor
• C minor

2 octave contrary motion scales:

• D major
• A harmonic minor

2 octave chromatic scale hands together on any note

2 octave chromatic contrary motion scale on 

• D
• A

2 octave arpeggios hands together:

• C major
• D major
• B major
• B flat major
• A flat major
• A minor
• B minor
• C sharp/D flat minor
• C minor
• B flat minor

Students should also learn the other technical names for the degrees of the scale, beyond tonic and dominant which are covered in Stage C.
