Students should continue to add to their personal glossary of musical terms, the following are suggestions that may be appropriate at this stage:
- alla misura
- doppio movimento
- senza misura
As in previous stages, students should continue developing their skills at independent interpretation of tempo.
- Encourage students to use a metronome in their practice and in the lesson, to help develop a secure understanding of different tempos.
- Use a wide repertoire of music with the student, so they experience playing in as many different tempos as possible.
- Remind students to clap a pulse to set a tempo when they practice. By now they may be able to do this in their head.
