In Stage H students should learn pieces that required increasing independence and co-ordination between the hands. With this in mind, students should attempt pieces that include sections with 4 parts (e.g. simple fugues).
Activities
- Ask students to play through each voice of a multi-part piece, so they can get a secure feel for each individual part.
- Encourage students to experiment with arm, hand, and finger weights and movements, to discover how to bring out certain voices.
- Develop the students listening and aural skills by encouraging them to listen to relevant music at home.
- Explore more repertoire with the student, so they can build on their existing skills.
